Circular Public Procurement in Action
Webinar
The circular economy has gained in popularity because its basic principles, such as designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems, can be applied at various scales, and the potential benefits are broad. Considering the core competencies of municipal governments, cities can play a well-rounded role in the circular economy by promoting the circular economy and acting as a role model, facilitating connections and establishing multi-level governance to align priorities and policy coherence, enabling appropriate governance conditions by mobilizing resources, adapting regulatory frameworks, and advancing public procurement and information systems.
The first webinar from the IURC Circular Economy Thematic Cluster will address Green Public Procurement to connect cities engaged in circular economy to learn about how advanced green public procurement has become, successes and lessons, available resources for its implementation, and how to learn and connect with the practitioners’ community. Two speakers will provide insights into the advancement of circular procurement practices in Europe and North America. Together, the speakers will help participants appreciate the opportunities presented by leading innovations and how their city can advance its circular economy ambitions through public procurement.
