A delegation from Nelson (New Zealand) visited Lemvig (Denmark) from 16-19 August 2023. The delegation was comprised of five people from Wakatū Incorporation, the Whakarewa Trust and Nelson City.

The purpose of the mission was to strengthen the relationship between Klimatorium, Lemvig, Denmark and Climatorium, Nelson, New Zealand, by sharing knowledge and working together on projects that build climate and community resilience. The Climatorium hosts arranged a programme including following activities:
- Visit to Juelsminde to hear about dykes and coastal protection driven by community engagement.
- Visit to Department of Agroecology of Aarhus University in Foulum to discuss research on food and agriculture.
- Visit to SEGES, a non-profit research and development organization agricultural knowledge and innovation for sustainable farming of tomorrow.
- Visit to NYE, Denmark’s largest private city development project, with a focus on sustainability and liveability. central parts of the development
As part of the programme, New Zealand delegates participated in Denmark’s National Climate Summit hosted by Climatorium. The mission resulted in the signature of an MoU between Nelson City Council, Wakatū Incorporation, Whakarewa Trust, Central Region Denmark, Lemvig Kommune and the Climatorium for future cooperation on climate action. The Climatorium hosts arranged meetings for the delegation after the mission with representatives from the Copenhagen Council, Nordic Harvest, State of Green and Amager Bakke to plan further engagement with Horizon Europe opportunities.
